ADAPT project is to realize a Software Package Prototype able to capture and exchange significant
business data from largely diffused classes of documents, independently from their physical layout, and
feed Enterprises’ Data Management Systems such as Accountancy Systems, Data Management Systems,
Knowledge Management Systems, etc.
We can say that the final system will be able to:
1. Allow direct electronic exchange of documentation from companies dealing with each-other, even if
not belonging to vertical organization (called horizontal EDI)
2. Capture logical data from inhomogeneous documents (mainly paper supported) and transform them
into a XML structured format
3. Provide simple usage procedures to import data from the XML format structure into existing
enterprises data management systems.
The main beneficiary of ADAPT system will be SMEs which will be able to save money deriving by the
small cost of storing and managing electronic documents and improve efficiency, due to the automatic
processing of business forms and timely extraction of relevant data. It would also have a positive impact on
the competitiveness of SMEs operating in development and installation of documents imaging and
management (electronic archiving), which will be able to provide their products to the wide European market
of Electronic archiving.
The project duration will be of 24 months. Exploitation plans have been already developed and will be
refined during the project development. Two out of the four SMEs proposers are end-users of ADAPT
Software Service Package, therefore a quick exploitation of the project results is assured. The proposers will
also exploit ADAPT results in others European Countries by identifying and establishing right contacts and
distribution channels.
